I use this space as a true journal, designed just to be a place where I write down my thoughts, opinions, feelings, and activities. Anyone who wants to is welcome to 'friend' me or read my journal. I'm always looking for interesting LJs to read, too, so I might quietly friend (or unfriend) you and have no objection to anyone doing the same to me.
I'm a fiftyish Wisconsin woman, and I've journaled since 1975 when I was in high school. I comment on whatever strikes my fancy when I sit down to write... might be current events or what I saw in the natural world or what I cooked last night or the last book I read.

Some people come into our lives
and quickly go--
Some people stay a while and leave
footprints on our hearts ... and
Our lives are never the same again.
Journeys start from where we are. Everything starts from where we are. Where we are is where we're supposed to be.
-Evelyn Eaton

May you never know hunger
May you love with a full heart
The light burn in your eyes.
May the fire be your friend,
And the sea rock you gently
May the moon light your way
Till the wind sets you free.
-Shriekback
"What a lovely surprise to finally discover
how unlonely being alone can be." -Ellen Burstyn

This Is To Be My Symphony
"To live content with small means;
to seek elegance rather than luxury,
and refinement rather than fashion;
to be worthy, not respectable,
and wealthy, not rich;
to study hard, think quietly,
talk gently, act frankly;
to listen to stars and birds,
to babes and sages, with open heart;
to bear all cheerfully, do all bravely,
await occasions, hurry never.
In a word, to let the spiritual,
unbidden and unconscious,
grow up through the common.
This is to be my symphony."
-William Henry Channing-
